  • Chaplain Tim Deer

    Mr. Deer currently serves as a chaplain with the Burnsville, Minnesota Police and Fire Chaplain Corp and is the senior chaplain for the Park City, Utah Police Department. He also serves as a chaplain member of the METRO Critical Incident Stress Management team serving the entire metropolitan area of Minneapolis/St. Paul and is a member of the University of Minnesota Medical Reserve Corp CISM team, also serving as a chaplain. Prior to these positions, he served five years as a volunteer chaplain at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.

    Mr. Deer lives part time in both Minnesota and Utah. In Minnesota, he is a member of Burnsville-based Faith Covenant Church, where he is a licensed pastoral care minister and has been a Stephan Minister since 1996. In Utah, he is a member of Park City-based Mountain Life Evangelical Free Church.

    Mr. Deer holds a BA (Chaplaincy & Pastoral Care) from The Minnesota Graduate School of Theology and is an ordained minister of the Church of Christ in the Office of Word and Sacrament. He is certified by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation in Pastoral Care and Caring for Emergency Response Personnel. He is also FEMA trained- and Green Cross-certified as a Field Traumatologist and Compassion Fatigue Educator.

    Prior to his chaplaincy work, Mr. Deer served three years in the U.S. Army and 36 years with the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller and in various control, training and management positions. He is a licensed commercial pilot (having soloed at age 16). He and his wife, Joan, were married in 1964 and have two grown sons. In his free time, Mr. Deer enjoys fly fishing, deer and pheasant hunting, and golf.
